Darren Hudson Hick, Ph.D.

I am a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Philosophy Department at Furman University, specializing in Aesthetics, Applied Ethics, and Philosophy of Law.

I earned my B.A. (1997) in Philosophy and English Literature from Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario; my M.Phil (1998) from the University of Wales, Lampeter; and my M.A. (2007) and Ph.D (2008) from the University of Maryland, College Park.

My central research program focuses on issues arising from problems in intellectual property, including the ontological and ethical groundings of copyright, problems of fair use and "users' rights", and relations between philosophy and intellectual property law.
